Hi,
I am having difficulty trying to find out what I would achieve with the integration of a Fire Tv or Stick to my server? I understand that Plex will add it as a tuner but how can it be used as a DVR? can the fire tv or stick stream live tv so I can record tv programmes or will it just port through all the on-demand content?
The Fire TV or TV Stick will not function as a tuner for your DVR. The Fire TV functions only as a client device for accessing your Plex Server. You can install the Plex App on your Fire TV device and access any content stored on your Plex Media Server.
The Amazon Fire TV sticks/boxes are NOT tuners, they are OTT streaming devices. They connect to your TV, not to your Plex server and allow you to run different apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc) including the Plex CLIENT. That is ALL they do. They are akin to the Roku stick/box or AppleTV box all of which run the Plex client and are NOT tuners.
