hello and thanks in advance: on fire tv every time i launch my movie, i have to select Andrea switch manuallly to 5.1 sudio channel otherwise it always plays in stereo. Can I start 5.1 automatically?
Plex picks the first audio track that matches your language settings. If you manually pick a different audio track, Plex will remember it the next time you play that movie.
You can use MKVToolNix or similar tools to reorder the audio tracks so they appear in the desired sequence.
Example: Select the desired track, then use the up/down arrows to place in desired order.
That doesn’t always work, really. Plex seems to auto-select the “better” tracks sometimes. I’ve seen this more than once with old Westerns where the feature’s audio is mono, and there is a secondary commentary track in stereo. Even though the mono track was first in the order, and might even be flagged as default in the MKV headers Plex picked the stereo track the first time I played the film. This seemed to be more an issue on my LG TV back when I had it. I’ve also seen other people post about it here, too.
I didn’t care enough because, like you said, if you change the selected track it remembers it. Seemed less hassle than bumping a thread for 2-3 years waiting for a response.
