Server Version#: 1.15.3.835
Player Version#: 3.97.2
I was uploading custom posters to my server today for various movies and tv shows. Then, I tried to upload one while the show was still downloading its metadata and now I get this error on every show and movie I try and upload to:
I’ve ensured that my Metadata folder is owned by plex and can access all of the video files. I’ve restarted the plex service and even tried cleaning up my bundles but nothing seems to fix it.
Can you access your server locally through http://localhost:32400? It’s a bug with Plex Web v3.97.2 which is served through app.plex.tv/desktop. I just experienced the same error and was able to upload posters through the Plex Web client v.3.95.x which comes with PMS v1.15.3.835.
EDIT: If it’s a remote server you can create SSH tunnel using the command ssh user@server -L 32400:localhost:32400 then enter localhost:32400 in your browser.
Not that I know of. I just experienced this literally like an hour ago. Probably it was introduced with the yesterday’s update of Plex Web. I think this thread is the first report for this bug. Maybe you should tag it with plex-web?
My issue started around the same time actually. I went ahead and tagged this post with plex-web. If anyone needs more specific info from me Id be happy to help
~Sorry about that! We’ve resolved this in the latest version.~
Correction, we did certainly have an error selecting but I cannot be certain it was impeded uploading. Although I was just able to upload a poster on our latest https://app.plex.tv/desktop release.
For me, clicking on your link to access the latest/greatest version
of app.plex.tv/desktop works (I can upload artwork again).
I’m glad I checked the forum first before assuming the problem
was isolated to me.
QUESTION: will I need to do anything (eg, upgrade PMS?) to get
the official fix when it’s ready, or can I just sit on the couch and
wait patiently and it will just happen automagically? Needless
to say, I prefer the second option…
Hi @damtor. The web app bundled with PMS is always a release/two behind the version that we host at the https://app.plex.tv/desktop. We do that so there’s less of a chance of bugs outliving their normal lifespan.
I use our hosted version exclusively. For a long time used the version that was part of the PMS that i run on my NAS. But I started using our hosted version exclusively a while ago. I don’t mind that it’s hosted, all of the communication between my browser and my PMS still stays on my network. I like that it’s always up to date.
Hi @deactivated, i am experiencing the same issue at the moment. I was using the plex-web app using https://app.plex.tv/desktop and still can´t upload poster and cover images.
If i try to upload them using the web-app hosted at app.plex.tv I receive the error message “there was an error uploading this artwork”.
If I connect to my Server directly using the web-app coming with my PMS (3.95.2) it works fine.
Please have a look into this as it is really annoying.
