I have had plex before. and it worked perfectly. However i wanted to start over with some re organization, and a new account… There is not and option to add my own media. No manage tab under settings. No add folder option either. does the free version not offer this anymore? I have downloaded it 3 times with zero success.
Your problem is the new account.
If you already had a Plex Media Server on your system, there’ll be a few configuration details in your Registry (assuming this server is running on Windows). This configuration includes a reference to whom the server belongs – therefore preventing your new user to simply claim it.
However… this is easily fixed by removing that particular configuration from the Registry.

Alternatively you can also do a full uninstall of the server (deleting all the server data from your previous server).

When you’re done with that, make sure to complete the setup by using the bundled version of Plex’ web app. If you’re on the same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser. If you’re on a different machine, open http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead. This will bring up the setup wizard and allows you to link your Plex Media Server with that new account.
Side note: there’s actually no need to create a new account for that purpose… your old one should have been good enough
