I know exactly what is causing the problem (at least I think so) but have been searching online for about 4hrs now and found nothing, even though I can’t be the only person this ever happened to.
I had plex up and running on my synology ds215j, everything working great. A new router has been installed and the now I can no longer connect.
The reason I believe it to be failing is the old IP address was 192.168.0.xxx and the new one is 192.168.50.xxx
Obviously it is pointing to the wrong place, how do I show it the address it needs?
Thanks for your reply, yes I’ve restarted everything. Turned on just the modem, left it 5mins, then router, left 5mins, computer, NAS etc. For some reason it just wasn’t updating the IP.
What I’ve ended up doing to solve the problem is just change the router IP to that of the old router, now everything seems to be working great.
I should have thought of that to start with rather than spending four hours trying to change the IP on the Plex Server, although as far as I can tell it should have worked.
The NAS box itself did accept the new IP, but I could not find a way for the Plex Server to be assigned the new one. I could see Plex was running but no way of accessing it.
It would be nice to know for future if there is a way of changing the IP that Plex is pointing at though.
I installed it on the through the NAS package centre and when you click on it from the NAS it opens up a web page. But I also have Plex Media Player installed on the computer too.
Sorry, i haven’t been using long so do not really know much about it.
