Can't access PMS after router change...please help

Server Version#1.25.2.513-7000
Player Version#:
I installed a new router and changed network lan ip addressing from 10.x.x.x to 192.x.x.x. I could get the rest of my network to work correctly, but I could no longer access PMS. When run from Synology package center, it tries to open (http://192.168.1.3:32400/web) and just spins. My app.plex.tv showed the NAS by name & just spins. After many tries using different solutions in the forum, I tried Chuck-PA’s solution of 1/18:

slow down… breathe.

  1. open app.plex.tv in the browser page.
  2. Immediately Sign out (upper right corner – click the Avatar)
  3. Now open http://192.168.1.240:32400/web (the IP address of your server
  4. It will want you to sign in. – sign in.

If you do not get it that way then continue below

  1. Sign into http://app.plex.tv again
  2. Settings - Authorized Devices - Server (dropdown)
  3. Remove (X) your Synology server.
  4. Don’t worry. We will bring it right back when PMS restarts.
  5. Look for other instances of your server there (Plex.tv might have a duplicate because of the networking change). If you see another, remove it too.
  6. Now sign out again.
  7. Restart PMS in Package Center.
  8. Open http://192.168.1.240:32400/web
  9. Sign in and “claim” if it asks you to do so.

Now, the NAS no longer shows as an authorized device, and I still can’t open the server from the package center. I really miss having PLEX, please help!

Control Panel - Network

Go to the Interface (ethernet adapter(s)) you’re using.
One by one, make sure each is updated to use the new modem router – IP addresses.

What is the LAN IP of the Syno (192.168.x.x) ? (LAN IPs are 100% safe to disclose because they are not routable over the Internet)

In:

BE CAREFUL – You can’t quote my custom assistance for one user without customizing to match your local configuration

STEP 1 – Control Panel - Network
STEP 2 – Update any manually set values (HOST IP, DNS lookup, GATEWAY Address)

STEP 3 - Restart PMS.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. My Synology NAS is at 192.168.1.3 and my DNS and alternate are set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. The gateway is at 192.168.1.1. Is there something else I need to check?

Also, I assume I will have to reclaim my server since I (step 3 above) Removed (x) the 2 instances of the NAS server under PLEX Authorized Devices in trying to fix this problem. Sorry if I made this more difficult to get back to my Plex server and libraries.

Reclaim may not be required.

The host is gone from Plex.tv (hard deleted)

Soft deleted are easily reclaimed.

Reclaiming on Synology can use the “Plex Claim Token” install method.
(just don’t use QuickConnect immediately after using Plex Claim Token installation)

I just found the cause of my problem! I never checked my Synology Firewall rules which had a specific ip range for port 32400 and that range was 10.0.0.1-254. Ouch! But you put me on the right track of checking all my manually set values. All seems to be working now… Thank you for the help and for being so prompt in your messages!!!
