I am desperate for help. I am not a network specialist, but have some tech savviness.
I cannot seem to connect to my synology D720+ NAS. I had manually installed version 1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9 with the same issues.
Initially I would not be able to connect to server due to not secure connection. Would not give me option to connect without secure connection. Then eventually said connect insecure, and had connection for a few minutes. Then lost again. This happened a few times. Then I could not connect at all and was not getting the option to connect without secure connection.
So, I decided to spend time looking around the Synology DSM and package center. I eventually found that the app seems to say run. It takes a while start, and then it goes back to run. It seems to always be stopped, and when I click run it will not stay running.
I am on verizon fios with G3100 modem Router.
It actually worked for a few minutes a few times to be able to setup libraries but could not scan as it seems to stop before scan completes. Once it did achieve green lock for secure connection.
Thank you so much for responding and your instructions were great! I was able to click run and got Plex to run just long enough to get the logs from plex media server. I also was able to get the logs from the Synology DSM as well. I will attach both files incase there is any differences?
Thank you Trumpy81. That was really helpful and I was able to get the newest Plex server on synology and I am now able to have the media server running without it crashing anymore.
I have another problem that seems more complex and was hoping maybe you could help me with this too?
When I use a web browser to connect to my plex server on my synology NAS, it will not connect as a SECURE connection. It seems to be in relay and I was wondering what I am doing wrong that I can not connect securely and directly to my server on synology? I am on Verizon Fios with G3100 Modem. I can access modem settings, but don’t understand most of them. Is there anything I can share that may help make it easier for you to provide some feedback and help?
I did that without the HTTP:// as it would keep going to my synology through its desk management software, but without the HTTP:// it goes to my plex server and the web address bar says unsecured. I understand that you say its still secure, so I will just use it that way then.
But should I be concerned with speed and quality when the server still has a yellow exclamation mark stating that I only have an indirect connection. That means it’s using the relay system and may have data and resolution limits set for streaming? Thoughts?
I appologize, I don’t see indirect exclamation mark nor do i see the little grey earth icon anymore when i log in the way you described. I must have looked at the other tab that went through app.plex.tv from web search. And it seems to load much faster with this connection. Not sure the difference, but will follow your great advice.
