NO NEED to give plex ownership of your media … that’s wasteful.
The problem here is /media/<username>
(the automounter) is grabbing the HDDs and causing the root problem.
You want the files to be owned by yourself but allow Plex to read them
- Don’t put them where the automounter does – Nautilus does bad things.
- Don’t put them in your home directory either
- Pick any other non-conflicting place and mount the drive(s) there.
Change the names as you wish but consider this example as it works for all Linux.
