I go to sign into my Plex account on my Roku Express, so I can enjoy the media from my desktop PC’s library on my TV screen. I get a message that states, “To sign in, go to https://plex.tv/link and enter the four digit code below”.
I go to my desktop PC, and click sign in, but it does NOT give me the option of the entering four digit code, which is apparently required to sign in to the Plex Roku channel, but instead the three options of signing in through Google, Facebook, or email.
Since the Plex Roku channel requires a four digit code on your PC to sign into it, how exactly am I supposed to sign in, and start streaming my PC library to the TV?
Make sure you’re logged into your Plex account already on plex.tv. Once you’re logged in, open the Plex app on the Roku, and wait for the 4-digit code. Then go to plex.tv/link and you should see the correct fields for entering the code.
No offense, but perhaps you’re misunderstanding the details I gave.
I am already logged into Plex tv on my PC.
I have, as I explained, opened the Plex app on the Roku. I have received the four digit code.
I have then gone, as I explained before, to plextv/link, and there is not, as you claim, any field for entering the four digit code.
That is what I explained.
Instead, there are only three options for signing in on the Plex app on Roku: 1. Google. 2. Facebook. 3… Email. As I explained previously, NO option for entering a four digit code.
Well then, it sounds like you’re having a “sign in” problem on the website. All I can tell you is to try using a different browser. Good luck!
I have tried Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome web browsers, all with the exact same result: While the Plex app (or 'channel" on the Roku asks that the listed four digit code be entered into the Plex link page on my PC, there is no such option when I go to that page. It is, as I said, only Google, Facebook, or email address as options.
So, since the Plex Roku app is insisting that a four digit code be entered into my PC, that Iam not allowed to enter, I can not log in, and therefore can’t access my library through Plex and therefore can’t upload anything to it.
That means I can’t stream my Plex library to my TV.
Thanks for wishing me luck, but at this point i think I will take the advice of the tech writer whose column I posted, “Plex still sucks”, and try one of the top ten alternatives to Plex for streaming my media from my PC to my TV.
Besides which, there apparently is no way for Plex to display the album art in your library; you are stuck looking at a generic square with a red background, and the words “last me” in white, for every single album in your collection.
Not to mention the fact that the company refuses to offer direct tech support, instead offering only a FAQ page, or steering you to other users who might be as lost as you are.
Then they have the nerve to ask for money for this buggy software and lack of support.
See you, on my way to remove the Plex channel from my Roku.
As one user considering jumping the Plex ship said “Plex is beginning to feel like a car only a mechanic should own.”
You would only be able to link if you are already authenticated in that browser session on the PC. So go through the authentication sequence selecting the option you normally use: google, Facebook or plex.tv account . Once authenticated you should be able to see the field to enter the 4 digit code. If not, refresh the browser page to go to plex.tv/link
