I just got a couple of new TV’s for my kids. THey are Roku smart TVs. When setting up the Plex channel on them, there does not seem to be an option to use a link code from plex.tv/link
The only options are to sign in with my google account. THis is nearly impossible as my google account uses a super long random string of characters.
I am able to use the 4 digit link code on my fire TV.
Am I missting something, or is this just not supported on a Roku?
It is a Roku requirement to be available in their store so need to use an email and password. You should have a Use Email option to use your Plex account U/P but if that only uses your Google Auth then yeah you need to use that.
Thanks. Interestingly I don’t see a way to login via a link from a web browser either? WHen one of my kids go to with the url for my server, or just plex.tv there are only options for google, apple, or email. No link for a quick 4 digit code.
I am having the same issue, I signed in with gmail address, and it worked to sign in to an android box but now on a roku box it will not allow me to do that. I went to my Plex account and added a password. Back to roku with gmail address and password and I get user could not be authenticated. This IP aprears to be having trouble signing in to an account. detected repeated failures.
I did go in to the roku Plex app insetting and turning off Server discovery but still does not allow sign in.
When I reset my passwords from the recent security breach I went to sign back in on the one Roku device we have, and it actually gave me the four-character link code to use to authenticate. I was quite surprised.
