Can Plex please fix their collection matching?

I know Plex say they use the movie database for their collection matching, but it’s not even doing that right.

This image is of the agents matching for the Planet of the Apes collection. This is very common in my library. The collection matches with one movie and not the rest that are in the library. I know I can manually edit the collections, but the whole idea of it matching is so I shouldn’t have to.

It appears that the agent isn’t assigning the collection tag to all the meta data for all the files.

Can you double-check if the two missing movies are matched against the same agent (Plex Movie) and have their Collections tag not locked?

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve since manually added them to the collection, but I can see that the collection tag is locked. How do I unlock this tag for my whole library?

You should be able to use multi-selection (select the 1st item, scroll to the bottom of your library but slow enough for the items in between to load, press Shift and select the last item) and then edit all entries – this should also allow to unlock those fields.

If you’re displaying your collections inline with your library, you might want to sort the library by anything but Title to ensure all movies are visible in one go.

Thank you. I’ll give it a go. It’s a reasonably large collection (5000+).

Is there a reason the agent adds the items with that tag locked (can I stop it from doing it to further additions)?

The agent doesn’t lock fields. Manually editing them does — this includes manually deleting a collection tag.

Thanks again. I don’t think I manually edited all these movies, but I have a look and see how common that locked field is.

Im seeing automatic collections created with 1 item when minimum 2 or 3 is selected in settings for that library.

I checked another faulty collection (48 hrs). Looks like the collection tag was only locked when I manually updated the Planet of the Apes movies to add them to the collection manually.

So both 48 Hrs and Another 48 Hrs don’t have their collection tag locked. But only Another 48 Hrs is in the collection. 48 Hrs has it’s collection tag unlocked and blank.

Anyone else have any ideas? I find a lot of my collections have the second movie of the collection (another 48hrs, the whole ten yards, Wall Steet etc), but actually misses the first movie for the collection.

Maybe the meta data doesn’t match to a collection until the second movie?

It actually should.
Unanswered question from before might hold the key to your issue… are all those releases matched using the same agent (preferably Plex Movie)? If so, refreshing the metadata should bring the missing ones into the automatically created collections.
