Can Plex work this way and if so why isn't it?

I downloaded latest android app from play store on my android box that’s connected to my TV.
My box is connected on wifi to access point, which in turn is connected by cable to my router to which my desktop PC that host server is connected by cable as well.
Can Plex work this way? I guess it’s not straight up connection like same wifi but I have no other way since the living room is far from my pc.

If it can work this way why isn’t it, I go to link page and once I insert the code it says Code not found or expired. Had no issues recently in my other place where tv was on router’s wifi and Pc was connected to router by cable. So maybe it doesnt work when its access point?

The connection should work ok – assuming your AP doesn’t create its own subnet with its own local IP address range.

I suppose you have confirmed your server is signed-in to your Plex account?

I was bit hasty with opening the thread, I was testing and made it work, but hopefully it can help someone if they run into this issue.
First I tested with my mobile phone app and it worked fine on WiFi over there, then I reinstalled app and instead of choosing TV layout which asks me to go to link page, I chose mobile and there you can enter username and password and that worked. I switched to TV layout afterwards and all’s working great!
