Synology NAS running Plex 1.18.5.2309
I have a fixed IPv4 Address and my ports are forwarded on my router.
I only have one router. There is no Modem or any other network equipment in my apartment such as network switches etc.
I have a subdomain pointed at my fixed IP.
I know my port forward rules are correct because for example I can access the Plex Web UI outside of my network by browsing to it on my phone using mobile data. I can even watch a video using my phones browser over mobile data.
If I try to watch the same video using the Plex Android app, the video will not play and will instead give me “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again”. Obviously this is nonsense since the same video will play if I don’t use the app but instead my phone’s browser.
On my computer, Plex claims on Remote Access page “Not available outside your network”. Obviously this is not true, as my phone can access it just fine using the browser. But I suspect that whatever it’s trying to do to ‘be smart’ is causing the app to think it can’t make that connection without even trying, so I need to trick Plex into thinking its working.
Any ideas?
