Hey, I just ordered an External HDD - is it possible to have my Plex App on my PS4 connect to the HDD without having to stream over wireless?
I.E. Can I plug my HDD into my PS4 and have the Plex App run that way? I assume this would assist with lag/buffering, and quality?
Any thoughts? Or is this not doable?
Great idea but alas, not doable.
The PS4 Media Player may (probably I’d think!) be able to read videos on USB media. It direct plays MKV files but has somewhat limited transcoding support. I think you’d find success with your external USB drive and the PS4 Media Player.
Give it a whirl, it works pretty well out of the box. You can consider trying out the DLNA profile I wrote if the stock one doesn’t work well for you.
