Hi tom80H, I read some of your posts helping others resolve connection issues and was hoping you could look at my access issues. I tried reading the pages linked to the remote access tab and get so lost with trying to resolve this. Please help.
I found through canyouseeme.org that the connection times out before a connection can be made. I assume that this is the best place to start but not sure of the next step. Hoping you can help this confused soul get through this.
As per the guide… this means, your remote access setup / the port forward you created on your router isn’t visible from outside your home network.
You could test this with a different port, e.g. a random port in the range between 10000 and 50000 – or a known port like 8080.
If those fail as well, your best shot is to check with your ISP if they’re blocking certain ports (or traffic) and if they can make an exception for your public port.
While testing this, also verify the public IP seen by canyouseeme.org matches the WAN IP of your router / the public IP seen inside Plex’s remote access settings → if they don’t match, your ISP probably placed you in a CGNAT which means you have no publicly routable IP (which is required for remote access). You might reach out to your ISP if they can make an exception and assign you a publicly routable IP address (usually, they’ll offer you to pay for a static IP… that’s more than what you need but it’ll also do).
