Cannot access plex media server on Lubuntu

Server Version#: plexmediaserver_1.19.4.2902-69560
Player Version#: Plex for Samsung 4.25.2

Hi there.

First of all apologies if this issue has been dealt with before. I have tried to search threads or topics related to my problem but could not find a solution.

I have Plex installed in a Samsung TV and two laptops. One running on Windows 10 and another one running on Lubuntu 18.04.4.

From the Samsung TV I can connect and watch the files in the Windows 10 laptop but I am unable to do the same with the files in the Lubuntu laptop.

The Samsung player shows the Lubuntu server with an exclamation sign near it and does not allow me to access its library.

When I go to Media Server Status it says: “Unavailable. The selected server requires secure connections but cannot be reached securely”

I have tried changing the settings in the Samsung player, using all options of “Allow fallback to insecure connections” and “Prefer insecure connections”.

I also tried to change the “secure connections” in the network settings of the Lubuntu server.

The windows 10 laptop shows the Lubuntu server but says it is unavailable too.

I used this tutorial to install Plex in my Lubuntu laptop

I would appreciate if someone could help me out? Please note that I am not an advanced linux user :S

Thanks!

Juan

Try this on your Lubuntu:

sudo ufw allow 32400

Thanks CostaHT

I just did so. Still cannot connect to the library in Lubuntu.

From Lubuntu if I go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web I can see the server as “nearby” but I cannot connect from another device.

From the Lubuntu latptop I can see the library on the Windows 10 one though…

Actually that has worked CostaHT!

I checked the status of the Lubuntu proxy and it was active allowing the port 32400. So you were absolutely right.

I just had not realized that I had set the secure connections to “required” in the server. I have set it to “preferred” and I can see the Lubuntu library from other devices.

Thank you very much
