Cannot access Plex server from AppleTV; something seems to be wrong with logging in

I have a Plex server running on a Synology NAS which I can access from http://plex.tv, from the iPhone app, and two Apple TVs in different rooms in the house. I have just set up a third Apple TV and logged in using plex.tv/link

It shows my server as “Unauthorized” in the Restore Defaults screen and “Currently Unavailable” in the “…” section of the menu on the left side of the dashboard.

The dashboard also shows the grey silhouette in a circle icon at the top instead of my profile picture.

How can I resolve this and play content from my server?

Two quick things you can consider

  1. Try shutting down the ATV4K, then unplug it from the wall for 30s and plug it back in.
  2. Is the new ATV4K on the same subnet? PMS only works when server and player on the same subnet (like 192.168.1.x). Or do you possibly have more than one router so you are getting double NAT? Check IP addresses of all ATV4Ks.
