Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349-8f4248874
I’m running Plex media server 1.32.5.7349-8f4248874 on Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS.
I’m trying to add a new library, but after selecting its type (TV Shows) and entering a name for it, the “Next” button is grayed out. Also, interestingly, the Language dropdown is tiny and unusable. Screenshot:
I already saw this thread:
So I tried this in three different browsers: Chrome (both normal and incognito), Firefox, and MS Edge. Same result on all three. Note that Edge is barebones and never used, it has no plugins installed whatsoever.
After more digging, it looks like some back-end plugins or processes aren’t starting and aren’t responding to internal web requests.
There’s a lot of these in “Plex Media Server.log”
Aug 14, 2023 10:39:36.164 [140254342175544] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#d8] HTTP error requesting GET http://127.0.0.1:33193/:/plugins/com.plexapp.system/messaging/function/X0J1bmRsZVNlcnZpY2U6QWxsU2VydmljZXM_/Y2VyZWFsMQoxCmxpc3QKMApyMAo_/Y2VyZWFsMQoxCmRpY3QKMApyMAo_ (7, Couldn't connect to server) (Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 33193 after 0 ms: Couldn't connect to server)
But I’m not seeing anything in the logs about why whatever process listens locally on 33193 isn’t starting (netstat shows me nothing listening on that port).
I’m thinking it could somehow be permissions and ownership of /usr/lib/plexmediaserver and /var/lib/plexmediaserver. These are drwxr-xr-x and plex:plex for both, and as far as I know it’s always been this way. Plex never had this issue before, so I’m wondering if somehow something changed over time (I upgraded to Ubuntu 22 some months ago, and it’s possible I hadn’t tried adding libraries since then.)
I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled plex and the problem remained. I also noticed that the above permissions are what got set on install, so I’m thinking they should be correct?
