Hi,
Have been adding files perfectly to Plex for a while. Have some .mkv files for A Discovery of Witches - however no matter what I do, renaming them or anything they just won’t add to the library.
The folder adds fine, and I can put other files in the folder and it shows them fine - but these just plain won’t add!
I cannot see anything wrong with the files but there must be something different.
Take the title as it is used on TheTVDB.
If there is something in parentheses, take that too.
If the title contains invalid characters (depends on your file system), like § : % *, simply leave them out.
Check the naming and the folder structure of your show.
Name the top folder of the show exactly after the title on TheTVDB.
No abbreviations. No additional subfolders. No aliases.
Add the (year) in parentheses of when episode 1 of season 1 of this show was aired.
Name the episode files according to the above linked naming guide.
Use the same title as for the top folder. Show's Title (year) - s01e01 - additional info.ext (‘- additional info’ can be left out)
After you corrected the naming and folder structure, perform the Plex Dance with all files for this show.
So done ALL of that (only with one file so far as it’s a load of work) - and STILL nothing.
Just ripped a film, and it’s added perfectly well to PLEX - however this series just will NOT accept…
I have put a folder marked “TV Shows” which Plex can see - then “A Discovery of Witches” which Plex can see then “Series 01” which it can see - then the file - and it can’t - it says the folder is empty… If I put another file in there, it sees it perfectly!
You are doing it wrong.
You don’t add each tv series separately.
You create a Plex library of the type “TV Shows” and point it simply to the folder named TV Shows.
Do not attempt to add this folder to a library of any other type (e.g. “Movies”). It won’t work.
