Cannot add content

Plex Media Server Metadata & Adding Files

Cannot load any video media(avi,mp3,mkv)I choose my folder i want to upload but just tells me everytime time, “There is no items in this folder” even tried my entire c drive. Does pick up anything.

Process i follow:
When i edit for example the Movie section and browse to add folders, the content(avis,mp3s,mkvs) in the folders i am browsing is greyed out?! I click add anyways but just get the same msg everytime, “there is no items in this folder”.

The same happen cor photos.

Fyi i was on the 90 day trial(and everything worked) then purchased my first month subscription today.

The Plex Media Server is free. Having a subscription or not has no effect on creating libraries or the ability of server to see files.

Start by telling us what you are running the server on (Windows 10, MacOS, Ubuntu, Shield etc.) and how you have your files organized/named. If it cannot see files at all then it may not have permission by operating system to see them.

I am running win 10. My files are named for example s1e10.mkv

Once again all of this worked and then just stopped working. It does not pickup a single file when a select a folder with hundreds of different videos. I have not changed any thing relevant to folder permissions on my operating system

that indicates it is a TV show. TV show files cannot be added to a Movie library. and files without season/episode notation cannot be added to TV libraries.

Ok …what about movies… for example a file called Get out.mp4…same issue, does not want to be added to TV shows

Get Out is not a TV show, it is a movie. You can’t add a movies to a TV library.

to be clear you don’t edit the library and add every file or sub folder individually

You should have a folder for all you movies and a folder for all your TV. Those are the only thing you need to add to the edit library screen. when you want to add new files you just put them in those folders plex is already looking at.

As you can see in image below the only thing I add to my TV library is my TV root folder. Not my folders for every individual show or episode.

That is exactly what i am doing. But wait, give me a few minutes i will add my step by step example screenshots here.

For example i have created my own folder called kk tv shows and tried to add a folder (where the contents was files called s1e10.mkv) but same issue.

Did i follow correct process?

How is Plex supposed to figure out what TV show that is?

The folder that you add to the library can KK tv shows that is fine.

in that folder you should have another with the name of the show. Like The Simpsons In the Simpsons folder you can put your files. (but preferably you would have season folders as well)

D:/KK TV shows/The Simpsons/Season 01/The Simpsons S01E01.mkv

Found my problem… selected Other videos now and it worked.

By the way,now i paid for this month for flex(which it seems i didnt have to) what do i actually get extra entertainment wise?
