Library not updating

I have a plex media server running on linux, the files are all in the correct location, but they aren’t appearing in the media player.

I have tried clicking scan library files, but they still do not appear.

I have another library which I added content to on the server, and it appeared in the library.

Any ideas?

  • Permissions (plex user should at the least have read access to all videos
  • Unsupported content (e.g. ISO)
  • odd folder structures
  • Folder names which are ignored by plex
  • …

Let’s share some details… what library type are you using, can you see the files from the „add library“ dialog when setting up / editing your library, do only new files not show up or won’t the library recognize any files…

I am admin, I made the plex media server myself.

Content is .mkv

Folders are very tidy, they are files/anime files/tv files/movies files/music

and sub folders would be something like files/anime/Cowboy Bebop

The files in question that aren’t being added to the library are single episodes which are not in a sub folder ei. files/anime/Slow Start s01e01. I don’t want to add them to a folder since the tv series is not yet completed.

The folder structure and proper file naming is a requirement.

Don’t expect it to work without for tv shows.
