Cannot add Libraries to new install of Plex

Server Version#: Version 1.32.5.7349

I’m about at my wits end with this.

OS is Windows 11 Pro, but I’ve also had this same issue on Windows 10. My content is stored on my NAS, an Asustor Drivestor 4 AS1104T, which is a network drive on the Windows machine.

When I try to add a Library, it will not work and I cannot add the folder. I cannot click Next and just get the following:

This has happened on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and even on a fresh install of the OS.

I have tried turning off Defender, Windows Firewall, uninstalling and reinstalling, running as Admin, and reinstalling Windows. Nothing has worked.

Logs are below, I would appreciate any help with this.

Hi,

I’m getting the exact same problem, first noticed when trying to edit an existing library but I just tried adding a new one as a test and am seeing the same thing as you posted above.

Just tried installing the latest version of PMS and it’s still the same.

Anyone have any ideas?

@rossp I actually managed to fix it myself. I was also seeing this on editing Libraries too.

I uninstalled Plex, including deleting any leftover folders etc (left the registry alone). Then I installed Python 3 Python Release Python 3.11.4 | Python.org, rebooted again, then reinstalled Plex.

After that I was able to add Libraries again. I don’t know if the issue has come back after this, but I sort of don’t care now they’re added. It broke once after, I reinstalled Python and it worked again.

IMO this has to be some sort of weird bug. I’d be really interested to know if this helps you or not.

Absolute game changer!!!

Thanks for the tip, worked a treat, I can now edit my libraries again.

It was driving me nuts.

It is very unlikely that installing Python manually has actually fixed your issue. PMS will not use any other Python library than its own.
It is more likely that the restart of the machine / PMS has actually fixed this.

The log files above unfortunately don’t contain any actual PMS logs, so analysis of the actual issue is not possible.

If anyone can recreate the issue on their machine, please enable debug logging (but NOT “verbose”).
Restart the server, then try to recreate the issue.
If it’s still occuring, fetch the server logs using the web app and post the whole ZIP archive please.

@OttoKerner I had tried that several times on the Windows 10 machine. It wasn’t just a restart as I’ve tried that many times, I had to uninstall and reinstall PMS.

If it happens again I will turn on debug and get logs from my machine. Do I start a new thread or update this one?

No new thread necessary. Please just provide a good set of logs.

I am having this error I am not for sure how long, but I have rebooted computer shut down Plex and restarted it Logged in and out still not showing up.

Please follow the above instructions for enabling debug logging. Your logs are unfortunately not usable.

I have been having the precise same issue, cannot create any new libraries and cant amend any of the existing ones. Unsure when it started, as I’ve not needed to change them in a while, please find my logs attached.
thanks
