Cannot add podcast by url

Hi, this isn’t working for me:

It would be really, really nice to see some action on this. I bought Plex with the assumption that features like this would be functional, after all.

Just got Plex installed and paid the lifetime membership. Somewhat disappointed to see this issue, but understand that bugs happen. I’m experiencing the same issue as others i.e. “Something Went Wrong” when attempting to add these two podcasts. Please provide an update as soon as possible.

But I’m able to add these two from the same domain:

I have tried (really hard) adding the below podcast to Plex without luck

https://anchor.fm/s/e26a5a8/podcast/rss

On web, I keep getting an error message. On Android, nothing happens. The most promising option was on iPadOS, which even showed the podcast photo and name, but did not list any episodes.

Really willing to move away from Google Podcasts and make Plex my go-to player for all non-netflix stuff I consume.

Help!

i just added that podcast without issue. Can you try again.

If you’re referring to the message just ahead of yours (from user alonsolicks) it doesn’t work for me, either. I found this thread while trying to add
https://selfhosted.show/rss
and got the same behavior as others: “Something went wrong” and the podcast is not added to the My Podcasts section, but the latest episode shows up in Recommend/On Deck.

I would love to use Plex as my dedicated podcast app, but not being able to add some podcasts is problematic, to say the least.

odd that one adds fine for me too. Can you see if it comes up in search? Are you using the web app at https://app.plex.tv or another?

Plex

Yes, using https://app.plex.tv and some more weird behavior – if I search for it exactly as you did (self hosted, no dash or anything) then I see it come up in results BUT, only if I’m on the Podcast section of Plex. Clicking on it in the search results still gives me a “Something went wrong”.

However, if I’m on the home screen (or any other I’ve tried) and I search the exact same phrase, I do NOT get it in the results, even if I click on “Search all sources…” So, strange behavior indeed.

Any update on Fanbyte’s Channel F podcast (formerly called Fanwidth)? I’m still getting "Something went wrong: Channel F

Strangely, the other podcasts produced by Fanbyte are all listed natively on Plex. But not their flagship podcast for some reason.

The same issue for me, the Defected radio podcast stop adding new shows as of 01/09/20 almost 1 year ago… There have been many new shows since then which are missing from Plex podcasts but show in Apple Podcastsimage
and everywhere else ok. Trying to add by RSS link just results in the error being shown (attached). Trying to use Plex as my go-to for everything music/tv etc but finding it hard, and now really finding it hard to justify a plex pass…

This has now happed for two other podcasts for me. I’ve switched to using a different service for podcasts, with is a little frustrating since I bought Plex because I assumed it would be able to function as a central nexus for all my stuff. Clearly, this isn’t an issue with a single podcast link or a single user’s set-up.

Hope this problem gets fixed soon. I’d love to stop having to use Google Podcasts instead of just staying in Plex every time I want to listen to a podcast.

I’ve tried adding these three podcasts:

https://feeds.megaphone.fm/HSW8493211613
https://www.blindwavellc.com/feed/podcast/blind-wave-audio-podcast
The Fwoosh: FwooshCast

And have the same “Something went wrong” result.

I am having the same issue with Uncast by Unraid.

Uncast RSS Feed (buzzsprout.com)

Add the rss link and get the ‘something went wrong’ message.

Go to Google Podcast and paste the same link and not a problem…

@Plexadmins… seems like many people having the same issues but nothing from you lot on if you have it as a bug or not… Can someone respond officially and let us know what is going on please?

I am experiencing the same issue with a number of podcasts:

https://audioboom.com/channels/4905581.rss
https://podcast.global.com/show/4467866/episodes/feed
https://rss.acast.com/ft-politics
https://podcasts.files.bbci.co.uk/p02pc9pj.rss
https://podcasts.files.bbci.co.uk/p04q5p2n.rss
https://rss.acast.com/commonspeople
https://anchor.fm/s/1fe6adec/podcast/rss

I have verified all of the links work, and imported fine into a rival podcast aggregator/player. The Plex devs need to acknowledge, investigate, and resolve this bug if they want anyone to take Plex seriously as a Podcast aggregator.

I’m experiencing this with multiple podcast. First I exported an OPML file from Vocal. Importing it to Plex added two podcasts, but none of the others. I suspect the missing ones are ones that weren’t in the Plex catalog to start. All others I’ve tried to add via URL with zero success. These are all podcasts whose RSS has validated through an RSS validator and that appear in Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Stitcher. I suspect the issue could be with the way that Plex parses RSS feeds.

Same issue for me. I’ve tried adding the Open All R’s podcast from both their own RSS as well as Apples.

I really want to use Plexamp as my podcast player so hopefully this gets sorted.
