Cannot claim server

Just purchased a DS418play (DSM 6.2-23739) and installed PlexMediaServer-1.13.4.5271-200287a06-x86_64 successfully, but cannot claim the server. I am transferring the server from another computer to the DS418play by following Q25 on the Synology FAQ. The Libraries are currently updating to the new file link (slowly), but the server is not able to be claimed.

So far I have tried 3 different browsers (Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) both in incognito and regular mode.

I have logged out and stopped PMS and deleted the plexmediaserver.pid and Preferences.xml then restarted and went to http://Local_IP:32400/web and logged back in and still cannot claim the server.

Also have rebooted the DS418play which did not help.

  • DS418play has the firewall turned on with port 32400 opened
  • IPv6 are turned off both in the DS418play and in Plex.
  • The router has the DHCP reservation for the MAC address of the NAS to provide a static IP and the port forwarding is set to that static IP and the port is 32400.
  • MTU is deactivated on both LAN ports

Logs Deleted.

Any advice to help solve this issue and allow me to claim the server?

**Update for anyone reading this, I managed to fix this as I had the network settings on the Synology set wrong and had to adjust the DNS servers in order for it to work correctly.

Hi, I am having the same issue, I cannot claim server in web application Plex TV. I also run Synology DS418. I am not strong in the lan setings in synology. What have you changed in Synology server to make it work?

Thx

Hello, after a week I got a chance to go back to this my Plex issue. I followe the steps above without exception, but it didnt lead to succes. Still I am not able to claim the server after I open Plex in browser. :frowning:

Hi, I see plex folder, I am not sure if it is THE one. But there is nothing in it. I have folder /homes/plex but there is not library folder. Where should be the right plex folder?

Ok, now I see it after checking that Q7a. I didnt get it firstly, I will report, what I accomplished.

oK, I deleted the files, than start the plex server again and went to the web application again. I had to set up a name of the server again. Unfortunately than I couldnt still claim the server :frowning:

This is exactly what I tried several times now with no results. Maybe you will see something wrong.
I sign out from http://PMS-Server-IP-Address:32400/web
I sign out from https://plex.tv
I stop Plex server on NAS.
I delete Preferences.xml in Plex folder in NAS
I start Plex on NAS
I sign in https://plex.tv
I open http://PMS-Server-IP-Address:32400/web in the browser and I have to put the Plex server name, than it writes it cannot connect to the server. Than I sign in using my username in browser. Than I go to settings - server and I try to claim and it fails.

Plex version is: 1.13.6.176-dd1845234 installed in the NAS

Hi, I finaly managed, so after rebooting everything I was able to claim the server, so now I am able to play movie. However, I tryed plex to play movies in 4k. But when I play it it lags a lot, I have Plex instal on NAS synology DS418, which should support movies in 4k.

If I play it normaly without plex, the 4k video playes, but sometimes there is no audio. I want Plex to just transcode audio. Is that possible and how to manage it?

thank you

If there is all this difficulty claiming the server, it will be in the log files.

May I see them please? I’d like to find the root cause so you’re aware to watch for it in the future
