Cannot Connect to Plex Media Server Remotely

Server Version#: DSM 6.2.3-25426
Player Version#: 1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5

I recently lost access to my media server through Plex. I can still access the files and folders remotely through Synology’s Quickconnect option, but my server cannot be connected to with any Plex app or Plex-related program.

The server appears on the Plex app but it cannot connect to it, it constantly tries to refresh but does not succeed. My remote access is enabled and the server is also listed under the ‘Authorized Devices’ category.

The last few things I remember doing before this issue happened, was:

  1. I was trying to fix a different issue with laggy playback by using the " VaapiDriver=”i965″ />" supplement in the Preferences.xml file. I’m confident that I followed those steps correctly.
  2. I updated my DSM server to version 6.2.3-25426.
  3. I was later notified that there had been a power outage at the address where my server is.

After these three actions, I lost remote access to my server on all services (chromebook, TV, phone).

Steps that I’ve approached to try to resolve this issue:

  1. I tried the ol’ restart and shutdown options to no avail.
  2. I logged out of all my Plex related accounts and stopped the Plex app running in DSM, also to no avail.

Any help resolving this issue would be most grateful.

Gotcha, duly noted. Here are the logs:

Oh no! Thanks for the heads up. I’ll address that immediately.

As for the certificate issue, should I just log into my Plex app and let it continually refresh itself until it connects?

Hmm, so I seem to be stuck on steps 5-6. I restarted the Plex app, and I’m about to go into the terminal, but I’m working remotely on a chromebook. There is a terminal called ‘crosh’ but it doesn’t have ssh anymore. It prompted me to download a ‘Secure Shell’ app, but now I run into this opening screen:

Not sure how to parse the command line you gave me to use for this part.

Actually I was able to borrow a mac! So I entered the command line info, but the prompt returned with:

“ssh: connect to host 192.168.0.177 port 22: Operation timed out”

Gotcha, I just enabled it, went back to the terminal, still timed out with same return prompt.

Understood, dang, will have to see how this works out. Thanks for all the help.
