Server Version#: 1.17.0.1709 on Windows 2016
Player Version#: Multiple Versions
Everything with my Plex Server has been working perfectly for months or even years, until the other day.
It was working fine on my Samsung TV on Sunday night. Then on Monday night, it couldn’t connect to my server. I was sure there was no changes to my configuration between Sunday and Monday, but I did all the normal troubleshooting.
Checked the server was running - it was.
Restarted the router - no change
Tested Chrome my laptop could connect to the server (local) - it can.
Checked Plex on my Smart TV again (local) - Cannot connect to server.
Tested Chrome on my Android Smartphone (local) - Yup, all happy.
Tested Plex App on the same smartphone (local) - Cannot connect to server
Tested another Samsung Smart TV (older version of the app) (local) - Cannot connect to server
Tested Chrome on my work pc (Remote) - Yup, Happy Server
Tested Chrome on my Android (Remote) - Yup, all is well in the world.
Tested Android App (Remote) - Cannot connect to server
Installed and Tested Windows App on my work PC - Cannot connect to server
Configured “Manual Server” on my Samsung TV with the IP Address of my PMS - All is good in the world.
Removed Manual Server - Not happy
Tested DNS is working internally (NB I have a full DNS Server - not just relying on router dns. And I have a custom URL configured in the server (same address as I use in chrome)). DNS resolves the name to the correct IP Address - not a surprise since Chrome works.
But still cannot connect to my PMS on any version of the Plex app (Samsung/Android/Windows) except for the Samsung TV when I configure a manual server.
Oh … and I’ve removed all “Authorised Devices” with no luck.
It seems that the Plex “Cloud” is perhaps giving the wrong address to my server to the apps? Is that possible? Has anyone seen anything like this? Any advice on how to fix it and getting all my apps working again?
Thanks
