Cannot find movie - not by file name and not by title

I downloaded a movie and placed it in the Movies directory. Now I cannot find this movie through the Plex UI. I think this is because the movie was matched incorrectly. I tried to search for file name but I didn’t find any ways to do that. Any ideas how can I rediscover the file?

Switch to folder view, and browse to it.

That way you’ll see what it ended up as

View “by Date Added” may also help.

I tried it, but the movies there are already resolved and I don’t see any original file names.

Yeah, that would simplify investigation if only I remember when I added it…

It’s strongly recommended to have a separate folder for each movie!

Since I don’t have control over the contents of what I download, it would prominently complicate the process by the need to provide directory name manually.

I really wonder why I cannot see just the file names…

Thanks for the suggestion, but I checked and didn’t find any duplicates.

I’m gonna try WebTools plugin now

Huh… That I don’t get. How is it you’re not in control of your own server?

When you are in folder view, directory structure is shown all the way down to the actual medias

As @trumpy81 metioned, your best option now is ExportTools, with movie level 5

Then sort on column Part File Path

In most cases I just download torrents and save them in a directory depending on their types - Movies, TV Shows etc. Some torrents have 1 file in their root, some have subdirectories. I don’t want to interfere every time and provide some extra directory name. What for? To see the movie and delete it a week later? It doesn’t seem reasonable.

That’s said, Plex does it job on matching in 80% of cases so I’m fine with my system and not ready to complicate it. The only problem I have now - incorrect matching or rather - its resolution.

Yeah, but not for files. They are displayed in “matched” state despite I request “Folder view” (which is close to “File view” in my opinion).

Yeah, already installed. And I found the file finally. Thanks!

To use partial scanning, when refreshing your library due to updates, as well as better organization of medias, with extras etc
