Cannot find my NAS in the apps

Hi all,

I am now for 2 months trying to get Plex to play movies from my NAS (DS223j DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3).
I use the Google streamer with the plex app, but I can not figure out how to find my NAS?!? Also when I go to the web page, I seriously have no clue how to add it. When I see tutorial video’s at all these video’s it works different than what I see.

Can someone please give me a clue what to do wrong?

After you installed the Plex Media Server on your NAS, you need to finalize that setup to get access to your server. Basic steps are:

  1. Open the server’s web app locally (=from within the same network/subnet), e.g. http://[ Syno-IP]:32400/web – IIRC, you can also double-click the PMS icon on the DSM desktop
  2. On first run, this should bring up the setup wizard where you can name your server, link it to your account, and create your first libraries – you can stop right here, if all you want is to manage your server and only access it from the web app like this
  3. If you want to use it from other apps too, you should “claim” your server (=linking it to your Plex account) – unless you already did in #2
    1. Navigate to Settings > [Server Name] > General
    2. Click the Sign In button at the center of the settings page

If you’re also signing into the other apps (e.g. on your Google Streamer), they should now be able to access your server.

Hi, thanks for the answer but I think I should explain something.

First off all, I did install the app already 2 motnhs ago and I do not know if I did then get a notification that a server had been found. I un-installed it from my TV and re-installed it, but no server is shown.
Second, I cannot find any setting that shows a ‘server’. I installed Plex on my TV, phone and on the web app. Nowhere I can even remotely find this settings you are mentioning. The basic setup wizzard does simply also not work.
But, I am going to uninstall it from the NAS and TV maybe that will help..

Problem is solved. I uninstalled plex from the NAS, installen it and created New token and that did the trick!

BUT, now it is lost again. Now I get the message that is impossible to make a secure direct connection. This is not realy user friendly software. Are there programs / apps that are better than this programm?
