Inexplicably, I cannot start the server on my Shield. The shield updated to a new version of android a few days ago, and I’m not sure if the server has worked since.
I’m trying to turn it on via these instructions from the Plex Help Pages (My comments in CAPS).
- Open the regular Plex app
- Go to Settings > Plex Media Server
- The first item in row list the server version number shows if it is running or stopped (IT IS STOPPED)
- Select that item then toggle off or on (WHEN TRYING TO TOGGLE ON, IT SAYS IT IS STARTING THE SERVER, HANGS FOR A BIT, THEN REVERTS BACK TO THE SAME SCREEN SHOWING IT BEING OFF).
Multiple power cycles (one for >3mins) has not fixed it.
Turning “share crash reports” on/off/on/off hasn’t fixed it (that worked for someone else a year back or so, per the forums).
Server Version#:7.22.1.12828
TROUBLESHOOTING UPDATE:
Just checked the play store, and the Server had an update available. I updated to it (ver 1.18.0.1913(smb)) Oct 8th.
After upgrade, I started Plex. The server was stopped, but now teh “Storage Loaction” icon was back. After trying to start the server, it started! (now Running).
I guess I temporarily solved my problem, so no response needed. Just posting this for posterity in case it helps others.
