Plex Media Server unable to start on Nvidia Shield TV

My Plex Media Server has stopped running on my Nvidia Shield TV and I have not been able to turn in back on. I go into Plex Settings on my Shield, go to Plex Media Server (Stopped), turn on, wait while it says “Starting Server” but it still says stopped, It won’t turn on.

Make sure you are running the latest version. There have been reports of the play store not listed the correct version. Try pushing the update from a web browser instead.

I am also having this problem (Plex Media Server won’t start on my Shield TV). I try to start the Server in the Plex settings, but it won’t turn on. I tried forcing an update through the Play Store, and I’ve also tried restarting my Shield several times, and clearing the cache.

The server version I’m running is 1.13.9.5456. What else can I do to get the server running again?

After one of the upgrades in November or December of 2018 the Plex Media Server won’t start. I waited a bit to see if maybe there would be an update to fix this, and the updates didn’t. So, I deleted the app data from Plex client, Plex server, on both internal and external data directories, and rebuilt everything the same way.

Now, I’m still getting the same behavior, where I go to start the server, there’s a spinning dialog, and then it just says “stopped.” This is a new library.

The experience running Plex Server on the Shield is horrible. There’s always something going wrong.

Agree this is a terrible implementation. I’m on version 1.16.5.1554 and I can’t get the server to start. It’s unreliable even when “working”
