Cannot match tv series

tv shows scanner and agent are plex tv series
series and episodes named correctly \tv\American Experience\Season [00-34]\American Experience - s[xx]e[yy] - title.mp4

All 30 seasons of American Experience are recently unmatched. I have tried

  • using match from web and PMP. I enter the tvdb-71638 as the name, 1988. Plex finds the correct series, I choose it and then the tv series is still matched as “American Experience Taken Hostage (2022)”
  • creating a .plexmatch file in the American Experience root directory. No success
  • deleting all american experience folders and files (they go to a nas recycle bin), then emptying trash, restore the files to my tv volume. After re-scanning the folders and files the series was STILL mismatched as “American Experience Taken Hostage (2022)”

Is there a super-double-secret way I can delete a database record or metadata for this mismatch? Thanks

I’ve reached out to see if it can get corrected in Plex’s systems.

I just also tried deleting the series, performing the plex dance, restoring the files, scanned library files and its still being recognized as the 2022 entry noted above.

This is on Plex. Nothing you can do about it.

They’re aware of the situation. Not sure how long it will take to fix. They may have to contact their info sources for show listings.

Will let you know when I hear something.

I updated to 1.31.0.6654, this series is still not matched

Updating or downgrading PMS will have zero effect.

The problem is with how TMDB & TVDB have the series listed and how Plex retrieves and handles the information.

The metadata group at Plex is working the problem. I’ve no visibility into a resolution timeline. Plex does not release such information.

Plex has now matched individual episodes! It does not match the series though

  • choose fix match
  • choose american experience 1988
  • the series now has American Experience title but the description is for s34e04
