Detect Commercials (“mark for skip”) is working well since it’s enabled for Live TV and enabled on the Libraries. However, I want to turn it off for certain recordings (PBS show). So for those recordings, Detect Commercials is set to “Disabled.”
Not sure at what point this stopped working for me, but I noticed for the “Disabled” recordings, ads are still being flagged (at least, I’m getting the “Skip Ads” prompt while watching).
On the Library, Ad Detection is set to “For recorded items” (not “For all items”). And the intention for me is to have Ad Detection on by default for most recordings, but override that and disable it for select recordings.
I did a test that seems to confirm it’s related to the Scheduled Task. Here are the steps to reproduce:
Temporarily set Scheduled Task to run at 11AM
Recorded new show ending at 10AM with individual recording set to Detection = Disabled
Played the show once it showed up in the Library: no “Skip Ads”
Kicked off “Scan Library Files,” waited a few minutes, and then played the show: no “Skip Ads”
Over an hour after 11AM Scheduled Task ran… played show: “Skip Ads” now present
