The primary reason I’m posting is because everything works fine within my own network. When I try to view from outside my network I consistently receive a failure. Remote access shows green and everything looks good from the server settings. This started somewhere around 6 days ago, as that was the last time I’m certain remote clients functioned. I’ve tried using a remote OpenPHT and iPhone client. Neither can play any of my media.
The secondary reason I’m posting came up because I noticed that my Hauppage Win-TV Dual tuner still does not work properly with PLEX any longer. I’d posted about this prior and never found a solution.
While the DVR aspect is something I’d like to eventually get fixed, the ability to view static media remotely is far more important. I noticed repeated crash-logs being generated after having cleaned my log folder and restarting the server.
Please let me know if anything leaps out as potential issue(s).
What is your security setting for your server? If set to require, have you tried setting it to preferred. It’s possible your clients are not able to make a secured connection.
Yup, it’s running on an admin account as a service. For upgrades, I login as that service account, disable the service, load Plex using the icon, open a browser on the same machine, perform the update, shut down Plex, and restart the service.
I don’t see S01E01, I do see S01E02. The error for that shows that you have hardware acceleration enabled on your server, but PMS is unable to use it and that is causing the problem. Turn that feature off.
I turned off HW Acceleration, as you suggested, and it worked. I then turned it back on and it’s working normally again enabled. This is running on an i7 NUC and has always supported HW-A from the first inclusion in beta.
Here’s a shot of Tautulli with the HW flag enabled playing remotely right now:
After a reboot with HW-A turned on, it failed again, then turning it off and back on again, it worked. I’m not sure if this is some domino effect going on but it currently appears that the way to work around it is to literally “try turning it off and on again” for HW-A. That’s messed up.
Do you think a full wipe and re-install is my next step towards a more stable PLEX server?
