Hauppage Dual Tuner Compatiblity Broken?

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395
Player Version#: Web Client 3.67.1

So I’ve been following the BETA branch for about a year and have had decent luck with my Hauppage Dual Tuner in both recording and “live” view of local channels.

I noticed recently that none of my shows are being recorded and also that the Web Client cannot tune to any station at all within the Plex Guide. The error I keep receiving is : Error Code S1001 (Network).

I’ve tested the Hauppage device separately using the provided WinTV application and all looks well there.

What’s going on with Plex compatibility with these Hauppage devices?

Same here on Windows 10 as the server with Plex 1.13.9.5439 on the server.

Can prove the Hauppage works outside of Plex, but Plex DVR is essentially useless right now as I cannot tune into any channel.

I am able to delete the DVR, add it again, fully rescan and see all channels available. But if I try and watch any program then I get the s1001 error. I wondered whether this was a pure video issue (would “viewing” a radio station work?) but it simply affects all broadcasts that I’m trying to consume via the Hauppage USB Dual.

I’m still having the problem and haven’t seen anyone other than us bringing it up. Maybe we need to open a bug report?

It is trivially reproducible, but I cannot see a way to open a support ticket or bug report. Everything just directs me back at the knowledge base or the community forums.

Suggests to me it’s file permissions of the destination write endpoint. But it’s not obvious to me how to resolve that (i.e. is it a directory on the Media Server? what should the permissions be? etc)

I attempted to capture errors similar to yours to see if we could come up with a smoking gun and came up empty. I have some errors related to the web client closing the connection but nothing indicating a server or tuner error.

Interestingly, if I scan channels on the DVR panel, I am then able to view a stream immediately after. The next day it tends to stop working again.

I just checked if I can tune and it seems to be working on the first channel I tried then failed on the rest. No idea what’s going on.

I really love Plex, but there’s no way to contact the tech support for problems like this… it’s a pity !
I bought plex pass, shield and wintv dual like they said, everything should work together ! hope they release a new server version that will correct the bug.

Out of curiosity, are either of you running Plex as a service like me?

I noticed today that if I stop the service and run it directly, the Hauppage starts working fine in Plex. I tested it three times and each time was the same result of “Error s1001 (Network)” or works fine when started directly.

The account the service runs as is an administrator so I’m not sure how that could play into a rights issue but it does seem repeatable for me.
