Recently found out that Plex is not working remotely. Not sure when this started but now when I try to connect it connects and sometimes loads the server and the associated media although then shows offline.
I have tried reinstalling Plex Media Server, checking the port is forwarded ok. Tried with and without IPv6 enabled. Just the same all the time.
When the app does stay connected, I can select video and click the button to play although it doesn’t load and then Plex Media Server crashes and for some reason I also loose all mapped drives on the server. Have to remount them and restart Plex Media Server.
Weirdly on the local network everything is OK.
In the console there are multiple log entries regarding “incomplete TLS handshake from…stream truncated” and “…unrecognised Plex.direct SNI name…”. So wondering if there is an issue with the certificate? Any help or direction appreciated here.
Managed to resolve this one. It wasn’t Plex which was causing the issue (in full).
I use an Asus router and the forwarding is setup there although after the last update the forwarding didn’t reapply properly. I removed all the forwarding, restarted the router and then reapplied the forwarding and then turned off the port forwarding and turned it back on. Then everything went green and started working.
I would say that for some reason the remote connection page was not detecting things correctly and anytime I went to the network settings page the remote connection went offline, this was still happening after the router fix but would reconnect again and remote users were still able to connect so something is still not quite right but it’s working.
