New user needs a little help here. My son has shared his movie library with me and I have installed the Plex package onto a Synology NAS DS215J.
There is no Plex app for Sony Bravia that I can find so just using the NAS as a media server.
I can see all the titles just fine but nothing plays.
I get error message “Cannot access the server. Please check server settings”
All the media plays fine on my PC through Plex.
PS: All locally stored files on the NAS play ok on the TV just not the shared ones.
Is this one of the Bravia Android TVs? If so, there should be an app in the Play Store.
If you’re not using a Plex app, what app are you using? Is it the built in DLNA player on the TV? If so, DLNA only works in your own network so it won’t be able to play things shared by your son through Plex.
It is an older Bravia pre Android so it’s just got the DLNA player so you have answered my question.

Would a media player box like Roku or something similar work if I plugged that in? It would need to have ethernet connectivity.
