Cannot reach my server

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6219-6000
Player Version#: 4.87.2

Synology 1515+ DSM 6.2 (latest in v6)
I havnt used my server for a long time. Recently updated and wanted to check one of our videos I realise that the server is unreachable. I am able to access the local version of plex but not the server nor my local library! I ave restarted the NAS. Updated to the latest version (PlexMediaServer-1.29.0.6219-b1b4d4871-x86_64_DSM6) but still no response.

What happens when you visit http://[Local Plex Media Server IP Address]:32400/web

Also be sure that the time and time zone is correct for your client device. If the time is not correct the SSL certs will not be valid so you can’t connect to the server.

That is what I do. When I choose My media, I get a screen stating that I should download the media server. First time I thought that I had an old version so I updated to the latest. But with the same result.

They are the same and ok

Sounds like you need to claim your server.

Yes it sounds like that (I saw another post about it). But I dont even get the “General” menu in Settings. It is like that I dont have Plex installed at all but I am running the local installation!

I have had this server going for so many years without heard of claiming anything. Is this a new thing?!

@Richard70

The security breach forced all servers to be logged out.

If you and your server are on the same RFC-1918 compliant subnet -

  1. Close all browser windows (important)
  2. Open a new incognito browser window
  3. In that incognito browser window,
  4. Open your synology by http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web
  5. It will want you to sign in
  6. It will warn you about ‘not hosted by plex’ (it doesn’t know better)
  7. You’ll get back into the server and be able to claim it again.

After completing this, you can close and then open normally.

What happened is:

  1. Plex.tv forcibly signed out your server (the breach)
  2. Plex/web doesn’t know your server is unclaimed.
  3. It looks for it by the ID but, because it’s signed out, isn’t attached to your account.
  4. It goes silly and thinks you need to install PMS.

I could make a hair color joke but will refrain. :rofl:

I tried this just a minute ago:
Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support
I also changed FirstRun=“0” to FirstRun=“1” as I was getting desperate… :slight_smile:
Same result as above!
I didnt close all tabs and go for incognito though… I try that and see what happens

No… :cry:

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Open FileStation
  3. Navigate: Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
  4. Right-Click LogsCompress to Logs.zip
  5. Download the zip
  6. Attach here

Sorry for taking so long. Busy times at work and privet life! Here is the logs.
Logs.zip (3.0 MB)

is it fixed? what did you do?

No it is still a problem. I dont know what to do.

@ChuckPa Thoughts?

I fixed it with their help:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/this-site-can-t-be-reached/814748/13

I could not access the site through web (http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web) though I could access through the App on Windows (PMS is on Synology) and also could access through https://app.plex.tv/

Hi all
First of all, thank you much you all of sharing your tips and tricks! That is really valuable to me!

I tried but it diddnt work, or at least I diddnt manage to get it to work… :smiley:

I’m thinking on uninstall and start more or less from scratch again, that may be that is my option at this time?! Any thoughts on that before I start that process?

@Richard70

Don’t know why i haven’t been notified these past 2 weeks.

Let me catch up

@Richard70

  1. Install the Synology Text Editor app if it’s not already installed.

  2. Stop Plex

  3. FileStation: Navigate to Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server

  4. Right-click Preferences.xml → Open with Text Editor

  5. You will see many Name="Value" preferences. Find and remove both the the complete pair for:
    – PlexOnlineUsername
    – PlexOnlineMail
    – PlexOnlineToken
    – PlexOnlineHome (if it exists)

  6. Save the file.

  7. Start Plex

  8. Open an incognito browser window

  9. Open PMS by its IP address only http://192.168.20.100:32400/web

  10. Sign in as it requests

  11. It will give you the “Got It” screen and want to start setting up again

  12. Continue with this but DO NOT create new library sections.

  13. Skip through the setup until you arrive at the dashboard

If you do not make it all the way through -

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Make a ZIP again of the Logs directory
  3. Attach the new ZIP file here.
