I recently set up a Plex server on a computer running Ubuntu Server 25.10. Because Ubuntu, I’ve installed the Plex Media Server through Snap as my understanding of Snap seemed to indicate it made things easier to setup with user permissions and removable media.
I can watch content just fine on the external hard drive and live TV, but I am having issues recording live TV as I am getting an error in the DVR Schedule saying “No write access to destination.” I’ve formatted the external drive in EXT4, added it to the /etc/fstab file, and did the snap connect removable media command; no dice. I’ve tried to consult guides on user group permissions, but the Snap install doesn’t seem to have a Plex user.
Is this an issue with the Snap version of Plex Media Server, or is there something I am missing?
