Cannot schedule TV Show series record on one specific channel (ABC)

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8227
Player Version#: 1.89.1.107-20abacd1
FTA TV Source: HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO (HDHR5-4DT), Firmware: 20231214
EPG: Plex (Freeview - Sydney)

Ever since I ‘returned’ from using IceTV as my EPG source back to using the built-in Plex EPG, I have not been able to schedule recordings from the ABC channel (both the SD [002 ANSWANZ] and HD [020 AHNSANZ] channels)
I can watch live no problem.
I can record the current live program no problem.
However, when I set up a DVR schedule to record a series, it all creates without issue, but never ‘sees’ any episodes to record. This occurs even when I’ve started the process from the TV guide on the actual show, left it to any Channel in the recording settings.

Here are some screenshot as an example:
In this first screenshot I’ve just setup a DVR schedule for the show “Back Roads” to record the series.

Then when I check the DVR Schedule tab, I can see it in the list of shows set to record on the right side of the page, but it shows no upcoming airings even though I started the process from an episode due to air in around 2 hours time.

Other Free-to-Air channels set up DVR schedules without issue and work reliably.

Logs attached in case anyone can help point me to the issue.

Giving this a nudge in the hope someone can advise on this issue.
Still just the 1 channel (ABC - Sydney) that I cannot schedule Series recordings of. All other channels I’ve tried work fine.

Without DEBUG logging turned on the logs are not very helpful other than to show network errors, you have jumbo frames on (Plex doesn’t like) and that it is restarting very frequently. Reenable and restart your server.

In the EPG, the show doesn’t have a “NEW” tag so unless you set it to record “New and Repeats” it won’t record. If you did then you need to check the recording location to be sure you don’t already have a file with the matching episode number.

Thank you @pl_5309 !

I think you may have pointed me in the right direction with the fact that there is no “NEW” tag in the guide. As I scroll through the TV Guide reviewing the 5 main free-to-air channels in Sydney, I’ve noticed the following.

There are zero shows for ABC with a ‘NEW’ tag. Not even the evening news, morning breakfast show, etc. which are all live and not repeated. Other stations have ‘NEW’ tags for these types of shows. The show which originally caused me issues is a weekly topical show, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, new episodes air on Wednesday nights at 8:30pm.

Would this indicate an EPG source issue?

I’ve been able to work around this issue for The Weekly with Charlie Pickering by selecting ‘New and Repeat airings’ and then selecting a specific airing time (luckily repeats are all at different times of day).

The local and national feeds provide data to Gracenote who provides it to Plex.

Check Gracenote (TV Listings- Find Local TV Listings and Watch Full Episodes - Zap2it.com) to see if it has a NEW, if not they didn’t get the data, if they do then Plex didn’t update. Problem is the Plex advocate for LiveTV&DVR recently left Plex so I wouldn’t know who to ping.

Cheers.

Unfortunately TV Listings- Find Local TV Listings and Watch Full Episodes - Zap2it.com only supports US and Canada so I can’t verify the issue I’m seeing (Australia).

Hopefully someone from Plex team does see this and have a way to validate the Gracenote data, and if there is an issue, provide feedback through their internal channels.

For reference, the channels not getting any content with ‘NEW’ tags are:
Channel source - Freeview - Sydney (Australia)
002 ANSWANZ
020 AHNSANZ
