No upcoming airings on scheduled recordings on some channels

I have been wrestling with issue after issue for days, and finally I solve playback, encoding, hardware encoding and all the rest. Now I am finally ready to record some TV and enjoy it at my leisure.

So I go to the guide and choose programs. The scheduled recording icon shows up on all the right items in the guide. So surely it’s ready to go? No, because I look at the DVR schedule and no episodes are listed (despite being marked correctly on the guide page) and the Recording Priority entry for the shows says “No upcoming airings”

How do I fix this? Weren’t EPGs transmitted with live digital TV supposed to solve all this garbage?

I am based in Australia. The channel I am having issues with is the ABC, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. I am using a HDHomerun HDHR4-2DT tuner. I never had this issue with the HDHomerun DVR, so it’s obviously a software issue in Plex.

I am running Plex 1.25.7.5604 on Manjaro Linux. Ryzen 5 5600G, 32 GB of RAM and more than enough storage.

Any suggestions?

have you by any chance selected a specific channel for the programme recording and also have you required HD? Did you specify new episodes only? If you require HD and the programme is not flagged as HD in the guide then it will not schedule it. If you select only new episodes and the episode is not flagged as new it wont schedule it. try changing your recording settings to not require HD and also try record all episodes rather than just new. if it then adds the programme to schedule then it will be something to do with one of the flags. Hope this helps diagnose the issue

The scheduler also checks if the episode is already in your library and/or the EPG has the NEW flag associated with the EPG entry.

Yeah…

So I had figured out the New bit myself… It seems that the ABC are not flagging 1st publishes with the New flag. Also, when I created the DVR instance it failed to map three channels. Once I fixed the mappings manually (somehow Plex was having a hard time mapping Channel 21 to Channel 021…) and removed the mapping constraint the DVR started populating jobs as expected.

Frustrating, but at least an easy fix (as opposed to the general nightmare it’s been getting Plex running…).

So, I have now removed the New requirement and locked the time instancing. It looks like that’s a work-around.
