Cannot see iTunes Library from Android and iPhone apps

This bridges several topics, so thought it best to post here.

We run the streaming server on a Mac to share an iTunes library.

We can access the iTunes library fine through plex.tv online and a 3rd party Sonos app.

But we cannot see the iTunes library through the Plex app on an Android phone or iPhone.

The app loads ok on both devices and shows other services, but the Libraries tab now shows ‘No Libraries Found’. The Android phone is recent (Moto Edge 2024 running version 15).

I haven’t looked for the library for several months, so not sure when this happened, and this is a very new Android phone, so all was reinstalled on it.

I have seen some possibly related advice that a new service is needed, which seems odd. I do know that the Mac is no longer very compatible with the Plex streaming server “app” which wants to load in Safari, but clearly it is running ok online and in Sonos, and updates with new material we add to the library, so that shouldn’t be a problem IMHO.

I have a lifetime Plex Pass subscription, if that helps.

Thanks, that’s a handy workaround. I just installed that and I see our iTunes Library.

But why does the Plex app have a Libraries tab if it cannot see the iTunes library…? That is how the online app works (through a browser), and it used to work on my Plex app just fine until very recently….. is that a bug they plan to fix?

So you can select among multiple movie / tv show / other video libraries.

The current Plex for Mobile apps, rolled out in April, do not support playing music. That capability was split out to Plexamp.
