I had an original media server tuning on a Mac which was always quite flakey.
I bought a windows server and installed plex media server on it and had a windows media server and an Apple media server.
Recently the Apple one no longer ran and therefore in an attempt to fix I removed it from my account.
Now when logged into the apppe Mac I can only view and configure he windows plex media server.
Whilst on the apple machine if I launch plex I can only manage the windows media server, I can add new libraries etc but only on the windows server.
I am unable to add a new server on the apple machine or even find the old one on the apple machine. I launch plex media server and it opens the web dashboard and shows the windows media server o my.
After you removed the PMS on your Mac from your Plex account you can only access it through its local IP address.
If you’re on that Mac, open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser.
If you’re on a different machine, enter http://[Mac IP address]:32400/web in a browser.
After relinking it to your account you will be able to access that server from all other apps signed in with your Plex account (Settings > [Server Name] > General → Sign In)
What version of macOS is that? Looks a bit “dated”
Did you use this Plex server with a different Plex account in the past? Looks like you locked yourself out…
Yes a year or two back, it’s OS Catalina on the Mac but it has always been the same Plex account, I only have the one VIP Plex pass. Which is working absolutely fine on the Windows machine, which in turn is working absolutely fine as you can see via the Mac as well, it’s like the MAC thinks the Windows server is its own.
What you see is simply the Plex Web client. It’s not “the server” – same as in all other clients, it’s showing you all servers/libraries connected to your account.
By accessing a server locally through its bundled version of Plex Web you will be able to access an unclaimed server (which won’t show from other clients… given it’s not yet linked to your account).
Let’s give that “why am I locked out” procedure a try… as you’re clearly locked out
Thanks but how do I progress this when I don’t see the issue?
I try accessing the missing Mac plex server on the local Mac by using the local IP:32400 (as per picture I shared) and still Plex web client only shows me the Windows plex media server on the Windows machine.
OK my mistake I didn’t see the instructions you sent, the webpage format is new to me so my apologies.
As per the instructions you sent me I navigated to the folder in question looking for the file com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist but it doesnt exist, I searched the rest of the MAC and nothing…
Maybe I should simply delete Plex from the MAC and set it up again?
