Only get Stereo PCM Audio

I can not get Plex HTPC to send AAC 5.1 audio via HDMI to my Denon AVR as 5.1

Only delivered as stereo PCM.

I’ve tried all audio settings in Plex HTPC.

As per OP …

Audio Device is set to AMD High-Definition Audio Device
Audio Device Kind is set to HDMI
Audio Channels set to 5.1 (I have tried the Auto option)
All check boxes checked as my amp can decode all listed audio types

Windows 11 22H2 is set as 5.1 as is Plex HTPC.

You may need to setup the Windows audio device to be more than stereo. I don’t know if this is actually required but it shouldn’t hurt.

I’ll just let the Denon upmix the audio as it is only an issue with AAC.

Go into your control panel>hardware and sound>manage audio devices>open your default audio device, go to it’s properties and check the “Supported Audio Formats”. Make sure that all of the formats you wish to pass-through are listed. My workstation tends to forget what formats it can do after a M$ update.

All supported formats are there.

The issue is there even with no pass through used in Plex.

AAC is a separate matter.

Do you have any application logs when you reproduce this?

No I don’t sorry and I’m happy for the Denon to upmix, as I said so I’ll put that as a solution.

Thanks.
