I am also having issues with the Plex app on Samsung 2016 TV where cannot sign into the app. As soon as I click sign in it pops with error : “An unexpected error occurred” try again.
Also updated TV software.
I have already the the below steps such as mentioned earlier by Plex support:
Uninstall the Plex App
Pulled out the power cord from the TV, and leave it out for 5 mins
Connect again, and then try to install Plex app
Still having the same issue.
Is there anything else I can try and are there any new updates on this from Plex?
Check your network settings. Some users have reported their ISP and/or firewall blocking plex.tv. Also try switching your TV’s network connection from Wireless to Wired and vice-versa. Does going to http://plex.tv/ work from the TV’s browser?
Same issue here. Had it a few times with different app versions in the last months, but always got it working again somehow. But today I can’t. The app worked an hour ago. It was the new app with the new logo. Now all of a sudden the app shows the old logo again and I am unable to log in. I re-installed, unplugged the TV for 5 mins - to no avail. Doesn’t matter if connected via LAN or Wifi, opening plex.tv on the Samsung browser does work. All other devices (iOS, macOS, Roku, Android, Fire TV) do work on the same network. Just the Samsung app does not.
There’s a network connection issue somewhere on your end. When you are having the issue next time, can you check if https://plexinc.github.io will load in your TV’s browser? It’s likely failing to load some necessary config files from that domain.
You are right. Figured that out yesterday. The TV does seem to have some kind of connection issue from time to time. When I then switch from LAN to Wifi and back to LAN it does work. Problem is, that Plex seems to lose all settings when that happens. I need to login and configure the app again completely…
