Cannot stream certain file types

Since the 8.7.1 update came out a few days ago, I am not able to stream at least mp4 files from my media server to my Apple devices via the client. I am able to stream the same files from a desktop web browser on my iPad but cannot stream the movie from the client installed on the same machine. My AppleTVs will not stream the file types, nor anyone in the family’s Apple devices (iPhone or iPads). MKV files will work which I find weird.
