Streaming video issue with some files on Apple TV but works find on an old iPad

I’ve tried to watch a couple of movies (not particularly huge files 720x480 3Gig) and I’m getting weird distortion on the video. Not on everything I watch but a couple of movies I’ve noticed the same thing. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the files because in the same room (or even further out of range of the wifi) it plays just fine on my very old iPad. I assume it must be some setting on the Apple TV. I do have it set to adjust the video quality on demand and that hasn’t seemed to help. If I stop the file and pick up where it left off, it will play for a few seconds and then the video starts breaking up again.

Any thoughts on what might be the cause or a possible solution?
