Hi, I am trying to sync some movies to my Macbook Pro (Version 10.15.6) using the Plex app. Every time I get the error “Encountered network error while grabbing media.” I have tried multiple different movies on the plex server (they all work fine to stream). I attached a screenshot below to show. Sometimes the movie will show as downloading for several minutes and the progress bar will be at 20-30% before the error message shows up - other times it will come up immediately after I start the download. I have tried restarting the app and my computer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Some other things I was thinking of trying:
Reinstalling the app
Deleting the sync folder (/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Plex/Plex Media Server/Sync)
I have had some limited success trying to download media onto my Macbook. When I set the Plex for Mac -> Downloads -> Video Quality setting to Medium (4Mbps, 720p) I was able to download a 12-episode season however not all of the mkv files were 720p and all of the audio was in Opus (which I would prefer not to have). When I change the Video Quality setting back to Original the downloads do not seem to work and I get the same error message described above. Some help here would be appreciated, thanks!

It will start to download movies fine but then stall with the same error… Any attempt to download a TV show / series always keeps starting over even after several episodes are already downloaded.

I’m not able to download shows. I can see the transfer happening on the dashboard, and I can see the files appear in ~/Library/Application Support/Plex/Plex Media Server/Sync/…
But then, the files are moved to the Trash and the download restarts. I can upload a specific log file if it’s helpful.
I take it back. It appears that I can sync/download one program. As soon as I start a second sync/download, the move-to-the-trash-redownload cycle starts.
I’ve seen that same behavior as well. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. For now, I’m going to do the single-file download until this is resolved.

I have the same probleme as you, when i want to download for the windows app i have “encountered network error while grabbing media” as a message error. but it on my local plex server, not a shared one like [CBZinger]. my friends who aren’t on my local connection don’t have this probleme.
