I’ve looked through the forums and seen similar issues but not this specific one. I’m not able to access the content library on the plex media server on wifi. I have no problems over data just over wifi. It shows that I’m connected to the server but won’t load media library. When I first starting using plex everything worked fine but eventually I started having this issue. Thinking it was Time Warners modem/router I got a replacement and things worked fine for about a month and a half. Then I had the same issue. Got a third modem/router and continue to have the same issue. Spent 4+ hours total with TWC tech support and they have no insight as to what the problem is. If I try to access plex over a different wifi network everything works fine also. Only having issues with wifi at my home. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
First off, let’s further define the problem you are having, because it’s a bit confusing when you say “WiFi” and then talk about TWC.
Are you trying to access the server via local or remote connections?
Is the server itself wired or WiFi? (Get it onto a wire to help reduce other problems. PMS should never be WiFi, as there are too many things that can interfere with it’s network traffic.)
If local is this access issue with any and every WiFi device, or just one or two specific? Does it matter where in the house the devices are? (This could be caused by localized radio interference, or too much “stuff” in between the router and the device. Things like radio phones, microwave ovens, garage door openers, electric motors, fans, wiring, water heaters, furnaces and water pipes could cause issues.)
Does the router itself have something like a “site survey” where it looks for other WiFi radio sources nearby and tells you about anything that might conflict. (Using the same 2.4GHz channel) (If so, move the channel of the router to one that has less traffic or a weaker signal strength from interfering radios.)
If remote, then the support documents have some pretty good troubleshooting pages. Just search the support documents for “trouble shooting remote access.” Skip the parts where it’s talking about uPnP, but pay attention to the double-NAT and port forwarding. (I really wish Plex would just edit out the uPnP stuff in those documents. It’s too problematic to expect it to always work right.)
