Do you have more than one device on your home network, of the type “router”, “WiFi Extender”, “Mesh router” etc? (One common scenario is if a second router is added to extend the wireless range.)
Basically you need to be sure that your wireless network and your wired network are not separated into different “subnets”. Only then can wireless clients access your local server directly.
Tip: Take a look at your router’s settings. Some offer a feature called “Guest Network”, or “wireless client isolation” or similar. If activated, that would cause exactly the symptoms you are describing.
Unfortunately there’s nothing like that on my Network. No Boosters, Powerline adapters or second Routers. I’ve double checked the Guest Wifi and that is definitely off. Client Isolation and SSID Isolation are both disabled.
This has been driving me crazy. I’ve recently changed my ISP, so I’m assuming its something to do with the new Router. But can’t for the life of me see what.
Are you seeing issues with any other apps on the same machine?
Are you trying to consume content from a browser or plex app?
What do your iptables tell you?
Does your server machine have firewall blocking set up?
To me, this smells of firewall issues.
Have you thought about using AI to aid in debugging issues. I’m from the technical industry and I don’t think I couldn’t do without AI support. It’s made me 10x more productive. It’s like having a personal technical support expert at hand. Gone are the days where you wait around for technical support from colleges.
having similar issues to the original poster. wifi connections fails to connect to plex server on ps5 and shield. i turned off windows firewall, set to insecure connections, its on the same subnet.
