I never had this problem before. But i try to add a show called “I Want You To Show Me Your Panties With a Disgusted Face”, but plex just cant seems to find it. (Its a silly anime)
I can search for it on plex.tv and find it. but when i scan the folder the show just wont show up.
My first time that plex dont add a show for me.
The folder has the shows name and the episodes are called “S01E01” and so on.
I don’t seem to be able to find that in TheTVDB.com at all.
And on TheMovieDB.org, there is only S01E01 there – and with metadata tagged as Swedish, although the text is in English.
So, I wouldn’t expect any metadata about this arriving in Plex.
Unless some kind soul will contribute those on TheMovieDB.
And these two websites are the principal metadata sources for series metadata in Plex.
In some cases, the file path names can get too long, when you include such a silly long show title into both the folder name and the file names.
Try removing the show’s title from the file names, but leave it in the folder title.
The Plex Dance may also be helpful after mismatches and subsequent renamings.
If all else fails, you can also try to shorten the show folder name a bit and maybe try it with
/anime
/I Want You To Make a Disgusted Face {tmdb-80867}
/Season 01
s01e01.mkv
s01e02.mkv
s01e03.mkv
...
Is it possible that this show is “Adult”, and won’t show up unless you enable searching for adult content in your server settings?
But hard-coding in the TMDB ID into the folder like OttoKerner shows is a good way to force it. Make sure to Plex Dance the file first, to make sure it is scanned for the “first time” by Plex.
Does it appear as “unmatched” in your server, or does Plex scan and NOTHING new appears? If the former, then the above suggestions should work. If the latter, it’s a file/folder organization/structure issue and you need to correct that.
In general, it’s not good to keep that enabled, as Plex has to disable a lot of “Discover” features to prevent accidental access to “adult” content in case your account is for a kid. I think they separated “adult” libraries from everything else as a fix, and haven’t found a way to re-integrate it…
However, all this does is enable the show to be matched. If it isn’t even showing up “unmatched” in the first place, then this is unlikely to be the solution.
